I was reading 2023 Nobel laureate Katalin Kariko's book, Breaking Through. She was brutally honest about the academic system in US. And, here is an example section from her book.

I'll be defending my PhD this Friday at 9a MT! Scan the QR for a Teams link. I'll be talking all about Regen Ag, SOM, and soil critters. Would love for you to tune in!

This recent Soil Science Society of America Journal paper is a great example of how enzyme activity doesn't necessarily translate into actual mineralization of C and N. The "N-cycling enzymes" were just as strongly related to C mineralization as the "C-cyling" enzymes (and vice versa).

It's shocking how widely accepted Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is in both the psych field & public consciousness… 70 years after its inception… Given the little empirical support it actually has. Here's what his then student Elliot Aronson had to say about his theory:🧵

While irrigation is valuable for climate change adaptation, irrigated ag leads to GHG hotspots through multiple pathways: pumping on-farm and for water projects, increased N2O, and groundwater degassing. We provide the first natl comprehensive assessment: rdcu.be/dPEX6

What's the fate of N co-applied with P as ammonium phosphates? Here, we show that fall-applied MAP and DAP N is lost over the ensuring months. TSP avoids these N losses: a "right source" in the 4Rs.
