Thank you @PatSchloss this issue certainly impacts all working with short read tech and genes containing multiple copies+sequence variations. Personally site specific databases help me limit what specie an ASV can be. We need to find a way to report this in resulting taxa tables

New Version: I finally found the time to update the DADA2-GTDB SSU (16s rRNA sequences) resource to the 207 release. The number of species is less than the ~65k on the release. Not all MAGs will have a well-constructed SSU. enjoy zenodo.org/record/6655692…
