More than the hint of fata morgana on the The Shiant Isles, this afternoon, thanks to the vague sea haze out there on The Minch, as the temperature is rising out there (at last!).

Looking across the dunes to An Cliseam on Harris a few minutes ago, just as a gannet flew past. Layer upon layer of heavenly hues and shades out there today over the Hebrides, under this low cloud.

There’s nothing quite like the quivering, haunting call of a snipe, reverberating through the misty fields at dusk.

Early this evening, looking out to the back of the croft. We’ve had some spectacular skies here today and I think it’s been the first day that has actually felt like spring here.
I’m sure I’m tempting fate by writing that….

Maybe the world’s oldest known wheel ~ 5,000+ years old, found with axle in boggy soil of Slovenia’s Ljubjana Marshes. Its craftmanship suggests that wheels had been invented much before this. Oak & ash, w/ radius of 70cm (27in), probably used on ox cart. At R, a reconstruction

A few moments ago, looking out the window towards Harris, I caught that magical 'slisk' of sunlight on the water - and a lucky capture of a gannet, mid-dive.

When the sun appears between squalls, and if you’re out of the biting northerly breeze, you could almost be fooled into believing it’s spring.

The sun emerged at last this afternoon and the colours began to sing.

Wouldn't you know, our final day of tree planting: we battle 45 mph winds & a wind-chill of 1C, as we dodge sleet & hail showers.
It's brutal, but we only have 11 to go - 100 today - out of 525 oak, hazel, wild cherry, rowan, downy birch, goat willow, hawthorn & crab apple.🌳

A peachy start to the day here in the NW, and in the gentlest pastel shades. Looking east, to the back of the croft and towards Slioch.

I nearly didn’t go out this morning, as I’ve been rather tired recently and suffering with a sore neck/restricted movement with it, however upon looking out of the window at 05:30 we decided it was worth a punt. Was it worth it - I would say so. #isleofskye #scotland
