Good morning from a misty South Harris. The sea haar looks as if it will burn off more quickly today. It’s been enchanting to watch.

The veils of sea mist hovering over the Isle of Harris these last few days have been mesmerising. Oh, how they love to play with your perceptions of the shoreline and the bones of the land. Endlessly elusive, enigmatic, a ballet of vapour.

Lingerbay, Isle of Harris, low tide. What a week it was - summer arrived at last and already it seems like a dream. At least it makes the transition into autumn days a bit more tolerable.

I’m thrilled to be showing this work at the wonderful @gairlochmuseum from next weekend. The exhibition will feature not only oils on canvas exhibited for the 1st time (inspired by the seas of the Inner Sound and the Minch), but will show 3 of the latest series of watercolours.

Ploughed cloud? These altoculumus undulatus clouds have been spotted by 'Tedder' in Devon this morning. Differing wind speeds at the height of the cloud causes it to form the parallel rolls that you can see.

A fun and productive day today, spent hanging the exhibition in Gairloch Museum with Corinna, our wonderful curator. What great teamwork, we’d hung the show in a couple of hours and then enjoyed a magical, sun-drenched lunch outside on the terrace overlooking the sea loch!

A beautiful, calm start to the day here in Wester Ross. Have a great day, wherever you are. (Looking out from the croft and over The Minch to Harris, the Clisham clearly visible this morning)

“Minch Song” opens this evening with the Exhibition Preview 5-7pm. It’s been an absolute joy to help out with the hang this week, with glorious sunshine bouncing off the sea & onto the Museum walls. Feeling immensely grateful to be showing this work in this very special place.

A roadside snap by Loch Tollaidh, this morning. The light is dim, but the vivid autumn colours are breathtaking in the mist this morning!
