How will you regulate people who have their scope of practice decided at a local level? What standards will you be using? How will you ensure PA training is consistent/quality controlled when there are no consistent entry criteria, standards or post grad training schemes?

It's a massive scandal. Everyone on PA courses either got a merit or distinction. Noone fails. The GMC knows this. And they are silent. Patients are at huge risk from lesser trained individuals pretending to be doctors. Ask for a doctor.

An FOI I did to a PCN (won’t reveal which one because they’ve actually been helpful - unlike others who have given two fingers up) have hired 8 PAs. No impact assessment No risk assessment No business case No SOPs - but have advised individuals practices may have them No

Just to remind the GMC of their own 4 ethical principles as they seem to have forgotten…. You (rightly) expect doctors to practice by these principles AT ALL TIMES or risk getting struck off. What happens when the actual regulator abandons these very founding principles? Who

“Health boards may be more inclined to spend money on doctors or nurses, rather than PAs” The implication is clear. Every PA role is funded by not employing a doctor or nurse. Remember: hEre tO WoRk ALOnGSiDe NOT replACE - TherE’s pleNty of woRk FOr eVEryONE

First the Grenfell Disaster Then the Post Office Scandal Now, the Great Ormond Street Report It’s the same pattern every single time: Whistleblowers silenced. Concerns silenced. Truth silenced. We have another scandal happening in the NHS right now - the PA scandal.

So far I have had FOI responses back by groups that cover over 120 GP practices. Between them they have 65 PAs None of them have any business case None of them have any local SOPs One of them has data on patient safety/datix events across their group (involving all

🆘 Dear NHSE Workforce, Training and Education – SE , Now I cannot unsee this presentation! This Emergency Medicine Consultant is convinced that Physician Assistants will be able to work at the level of Registrar and Consultant in A+E 💀☠️☠️. ⭕️ PAs don’t know anything about paediatrics/Obs+Gynae. I have the misfortune to see a PA today for my hospital appointment. The clinic nurse introduced them as a doctor, he never said he is not a doctor. I am naturally unimpressed, but feel trapped in the situation. I will be writing to PALS and the consultant team.

Also problematic as it inevitably results in the nearest SpR/SHO becoming de facto responsible when consultant supervisor not around - I don't think remote supervision is a wise idea.

The Royal College of Physicians PA Scope Co-Authors are both staunchly pro-PA Consultants from SASH NHS Trust One is the head of SE School of PAs- KSS hub Check out what they were promoting PAs **CURRENTLY** do at their Trust Any surprise that the draft scope allows for all of that to continue?

The controversy regarding the RCPL draft scope document is almost inevitable if authored by people not well-versed in doing objective research and writing balanced policy documents for discussion/approval. If three anti-PA authors wrote it, then the outcry would come ... 1/n
