The European Commission is promising new animal welfare proposals next year. The overdue proposals include phasing out cages, regulating imports, and ending chick killing. Whether they progress will say a lot about the seriousness of animal welfare commissioner Oliver Varhelyi

Mention spéciale à Transilien SNCF Voyageurs pour son nouveau système de tickets byzantin et son application mobile qui ne fonctionne pas. La « simplification » à la française !

🩸 The sea ran red in the Faroes as 336 pilot whales, including unborn calves, were slaughtered in the 2nd "grindadráp" of 2025. ❌ This bloody tradition persists despite global & local opposition. #StopTheGrind 🎥 Sea Shepherd

🚨 This is huge: the European Commission effectively banned mink farming in the EU by classifying minks as invasive alien species! Member States can apply for exemptions but it's a great example of how environmental regulations can work in the interest of farmed animals.

The global decline in the factory farming of mink is a great untold story of animal welfare progress. Now the EU has effectively banned most mink farming (exceptions remain), we'll hopefully see the further decline of this cruel industry. It can't come soon enough.

Great news: the Supreme Court today rejected yet another pork industry lawsuit to try to force states to allow the sale of pork from crated pigs. The pork industry is now lobbying Congress hard to wipe out state crate bans through the Farm Bill later this year.
