the rwanda act's passage is a stain on the UK's conscience. it will tear people from their communities & deprive them of protection; it usurps the ability of UK courts to scrutinise Govt decisions; & it further carves out from our Human Rights Act, undermining universality.

On the contrary, as Sir Michael Marmot and I outlined in Prospect

🚨 Human rights organisations have warned about this from the beginning. Using military bases to house people seeking asylum is not a solution.

🪖 Everyone has a right to adequate housing, which does not mean old RAF bases contaminated with ground gases and unexploded ordnance.

The UN security council has finally passed a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The US abstained but did not veto on this occasion.

Outrageous it has taken this long and after so many Palestinians have been killed but important now to make it a reality.

This is a significant win for our movement to make stays in temporary accommodation short, safe & healthy, and shows that people power works!
