i think people don't understand how difficult it is to have 400 paying customers, at the same time. to get there, you will have to go through thousands of paying customers. imo this is much more realistic: - 50 customers - at $200/mo or even this: - 5 clients - at $2k/mo

Just do the thing. Don't do the thing because you think it'll make you better at something else. If it does, great. If it doesn't, even greater. One thing doesn't have to be in service of another thing. Don't spoil the parts by trying to make them the whole.
