Administrators demanding that their teachers teach “bell-to-bell” are out of touch with reality. This mandate disregards humanity, creates unrealistic expectations, leads to burnout, and does not yield positive results for children.

A1: Unfortunately, most wins in education (at least in my experience) are in spite of (not because of) legislation. I would love to be able to say that decisions are made with the kids’ best interest in mind; but there’s too many political football flying around. #edchatafterdark

A2:When done well, tech in education can do magic including making learning visible, expanding a students voice, and moving the classroom beyond its four walls. But when done poorly it’s believed to be a cure all for bad instructional practice but never delivers. #edchatafterdark

A5: if and when a “political view” speaks to the personhood/worth of a student in your classroom, it remains your job to make that child feel seen and valued in your classroom. You can’t legislate a teacher’s care and concern 4 their students out of the classroom #edchatafterdark
