Red Sox are now up to 16 unearned runs in 57 innings since Story’s injury - 2.5 per 9 innings. Hamilton has had at least one misplay in each of his 4 games, but he’s not alone in what has become a mess. From today:

The Red Sox' defense has been a mess: 13 unearned runs in 54 innings since Trevor Story's injury, and through 13 games, their infield defense has been among the worst in the big leagues. Again. On a glaring problem and its consequences: bostonglobe.com/2024/04/12/spo… via The Boston Globe

Alex Cora said the Red Sox have fallen short at out-conversion - especially on routine plays - with obviously significant consequences. Story’s injury has obviously played into that, but, “we’ve got to turn the page from Trevor’s injury,” he said.

Cowser's homer was 114 mph and 438 feet - in awful weather. Can only imagine how far it would've gone if it wasn't cold and rainy.

Colton Cowser just annihilated a 3-0 pitch. One of the louder homers you'll ever hear. It's 9-3 Orioles in the 10th. The patrons who had remained are now streaming out of Fenway.

Gunnar Henderson greets Isaiah Campbell with a two-run, leadoff, opposite-field blast into the Monster Seats. It's 5-3, Orioles, in the 10th.

Things are about to get weird, since Reese McGuire was just ejected. Red Sox didn't have anyone left on the bench. So, they either need to stick an injured player in the field or have a pitcher play a defensive position.

Connor Wong with a pinch-hit HR to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth. Cora emptied the bench (Wong will have to play 2B with Abreu out of the game; Rafaela will move to CF) in an all-in move. It worked. First career pinch-hit homer for Wong.

Reyes boots the ball to put the runner on. Hamilton makes a mental lapse failing to step on the bag on what would've been an inning-ending DP. Sox just keep giving away outs.

Anthony Santander just tucked Greg Weissert's first pitch of the game into the first row of the RF grandstand, a few seats from the Pesky Pole, for a 2-run homer. Two more unearned runs for the Sox. Orioles lead, 3-2.

Red Sox nearly pulled an inning-ending 4-6-3 DP, but Hamilton stepped around the base rather than on it, so Holliday is safe at second.

With the Red Sox committing an E5 to open the eighth inning, worth noting that they entered today tied with the Mets for most unearned runs allowed (13).
