The first of Phase 2 instrumentation and monitoring has began Bilton Primary School with some underground sensors looking at water quantity and quality as part of Living with Water roll out of SuDS in and around Hull. A new tree trench, swale and larger pond going in!
A lot of enthusiasm and scope for #SuDS at Meanwood Farm (plus a great place for a workshop and great coffee and food from The Barn Meanwood 👍). Fantastic to learn from other projects including in Hull from Alexander Osborne & Living with Water
Our plants are loving the SuDS life—turns out sustainable drainage systems are keeping things lush, green and happy this year on campus. Makes waiting the 6 months a year worth it! 🌼💧 Energy and Environment Institute SuDSPlanter Ltd
Cambridge University University Sassari Paper 6 is Hannah Worthen and Alexander Osborne on ‘Water Data for People: Using Participatory Mapping for Socio-Hydraulic Modelling’. The project explores using data from monitored sustainable drainage schemes to engage communities & young people in #climateaction
Off to sunny @StaffsUni for the UKRI policy engagement training. And of course I couldn’t help but spot a lovely detention pond taking both runoff from the paving but also the bin store roof. Energy and Environment Institute #SuDSonTour
Another day, another university. This time The University of Manchester at the Annual NERC Digital Gathering. Time to present about the #Rain2Drain approach of monitoring with the DIG SuDS project. Energy and Environment Institute #DG24
Scores on the doors for this period of wet weather. A site we monitor in Doncaster measured nearly 50mm of rain in the last two days. That’s about an entire month’s worth of average September rainfall falling! Energy and Environment Institute
It was great to visit Bilton Primary School yesterday and see the swale we have installed working well during the recent rain. A true community project with the school being at the heart of flood resilience in Bilton. More to come from this project very soon... #floodaware #SuDS
