Great meeting with colleagues on the Impact and Influence committee of the Microbiology Society. First in-person meeting (outside my institution) for some time! Lots of ideas and discussion on EDI, decolonising science, future priority areas for the field and much more.
Fantastic experience today at the virtual #UKCFC Cystic Fibrosis Trust conference. Really grateful for the chance to present on the “Digesting the gut symptoms of CF” breakout session! Shout-out to all the other speakers; great talks and ideas bounced around. Interesting work forthcoming!!
Having a great time in Washington DC at #ASMicrobe so far, with @GregoryBulmer and Alex J Cunliffe presenting their posters yesterday. Lots more great science to come!
Congratulations to the #Classof2020 🥳 It's been a long time coming but so nice to finally be able to celebrate graduation with our students from MMU's Department of Natural Sciences Great to see so many of our wonderful PhD students as well today #ManMetGrad
Including our #handsonbiofilm event! thanks to @nbic for support and @MetMUnch James Redfern Jane Wood @HalehMoravej Prof Natascha Radclyffe-Thomas 💋💙
And where off! #handsonbiofilm as part of #manchestersciencefestival Science and Industry Museum building our own biofilm and engaging ppl with #citizenscience to find the best conditions to grown kombucha biofilm for use as a #biotextile and food @MetMUnch National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC) Ecology & Environment Research Centre @ManMetUni Manchester Met Science and Engineering
I’m Washington DC for a few days to present some recent work on methods at The Center for Biofilm Engineering Pathways to Products meeting. Looking forward to hearing lots of interesting science inc from colleagues from National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC)
Had a great time with colleagues from National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC) and The Center for Biofilm Engineering at the Pathways to Products meeting in Washington DC over the last few days, presenting gap analysis of antibiofilm methods - lots of enthusiasm for standards, method development and harmonisation.
👩🔬👨🔬🦠 *PhD Opportunity* - Im advertising 2x PhD studentships starting October 2023 as part of National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC) CTP - both are investigating bacterial biofilms, biocides and antibiofilm surfaces - developing standardised methods controlling submerged and non-submerged biofilm. Double poster presentations from Manchester Met Science and Engineering at #FEMS2023. PhD student Alex J Cunliffe presents our work on novel methods for testing antimicrobial surfaces and Jo Verran presenting her #badbugsbookclub which won the FEMS Science Communication Award this year!
Arrived at Microbiology Society #microbio24 and great to see the Society advertising the great work publishing with the community can do - but please do consider #AccessMicrobiology journal for your work (including negative data, methods etc) or any of the societies publications.
Great to have so many Manchester Metropolitan Uni microbiologists here (past and present) at #microbio24 from across the different departments
