This is a helpful statistic about landmines that I often forget to share. In addition to killing and injuring civilians and preventing development, it's very costly to remove them.

Not the 1st such war, measured by deaths of online contacts. (Syria, Ukr etc) The ✅✅ that show they read your notes stop lighting up. Far-off lanterns winking out 1 by 1. A few we profile after they go dark. More we’d quoted 1-2x, or were journos. Many just stay off-record.🙏
