Molecule of the day: Ginkgolide B! This absolute hot mess of a compound is one of the bioactives in Ginkgo biloba. While most plant bioactives (like terpenes) have a zillion close relatives, the ginkgolides are an island in chem-space, due to Ginkgo's status as a "living fossil".
