This is outrageous. Ramsden is a great park to bring dogs to. It is so frustrating living in a city that panders to the connected few and bans everything it can: coffee shops, dog walkers, buskers... You live in a city, learn to enjoy that or move somewhere more quiet.

Housing affordability in this country will be hard to achieve as long as Canadian media continues to prove incapable of properly framing the issue. Saying it is a surprising downturn has negative connotations, when its actually a good thing.

Rising interest rates have attracted much of the blame, but that cannot explain the diverging trends. Would be interested in seeing how this breaks out by housing type (single-family vs. apartment) since that could explain whether this is a zoning story or something else.

Some great papers in this thread. My personal favourite is from Nathaniel Baum-Snow and Han, whose method I rely on for my own Greenbelt paper: hempeleconomics.com/files/Hempel_J…

Almost all economics papers involve mundanely describing a model in a way that has been done hundreds of times before. There's only so many ways to say that "I am using a model (blank) that includes features (blank)". This is not plagiarism...

Happy Liberation Day everyone! I'm excited to announce that I've finally finished recalibrating the model from my CJE paper on NAFTA termination (onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.111…) to add more countries in order to properly model the tariffs in Trump's 2nd term. Headline results on

Rory McIlroy is one of the most deserving Masters champions you can imagine, but that might have been one of the least deserving rounds to ever win a green jacket. That chip in 13 was inexplicable...

This, unfortunately, is the common and out of touch position held by many centre-left liberals in this country on housing. If the new housing minister doesn't understand that to achieve affordable housing, housing prices need to fall, then he will certainly fail in this role.

Was willing to give the new housing minister a chance to see if his views had changed on major housing topics... After one day and two interviews, I can say pretty confidently that they have not. I'm quite concerned now what that means for the Liberal housing agenda.

See this assumes that the probabilities are independent (or even iid). Unfortunately, they are not. They're distributed MMNT (Matthews-MarnerNylander-Tavares)
