So excited to learn about the causes and effects of erosion on our local streams today!

Integrating ELA and Science by using oral arguments, drawing and labeling diagrams, and using the engineering design process to solve our problem of a polluted stream habitat - what a busy morning!

We learned all about the specific needs of organisms and their survival in our first ELA and Science integration unit - so we made our own habitat for our classroom visitor!

This week Ss in gr. K and 1 are making connections to Starlab and content in art! Grade 1 artists use mixed media supplies to draw the animal they researched in their last content unit in the classroom. We added stars, metallic outlines and glitter and created constellations!

Students learned how to collaborate as a class in order to communally edit a story on a shared Google Doc, then practiced on their own! They loved it!

Kicked off our next integrated Science and ELA unit about extreme weather by creating a ‘KLEWS’ blizzard!

Had lots of fun today using our new knowledge about structures and severe weather in order to create houses that can withstand extreme wind!
