Its baffling how easily we hand over our hard-earned money to greedy corporations and corrupt politicians, yet quickly dismiss UBI, which benefits not only us but others in our communities

Product is like a drill. Goal is like a hole. People need holes. They cannot make them without a drill. But if they could, they'd not see any value in a "product". In other words, people pay for functionality, not for the product. Products are annoying details.

One reason that we can be sure that AI models will never reach levels of intelligence needed for them to be useful is the fact that they're so inferior to us humans. How inferior? Well, AI is prone to hallucinating, and that's something we humans never do.

Any time I get to the point where I realize the only way to test the my code is to mock some portion of the system, I know that I am dealing with a lousy design. Time to refactor. Avoid mocks at all cost because they prevent you from producing quality design.

Mocking etc. indicates the presence of dependencies. Ideally, our solution should have zero dependencies, but that's not easily doable. So, we cave in and drag some dependencies into the picture. But be careful not to overdo it.

Tests are there to put a pressure on the design until it admits it could do better. That, in turn, makes the test's life easier. And then they can happily coexist in the codebase.

Q: This will never work. A: It already works. We've been using it for years, for everything. Q: But I can't imagine how it would work. A: If you could imagine it, we wouldn't have had to build it.
