🗣️ Almost two thirds of people in destitution live with a chronic health condition or disability. Cutting people’s eligibility for benefits won't help.

The PM's speech was an irresponsible war of words on people who already aren’t getting enough support.

Listening to an indie band who all went to a £40,000 a year private school, I read a novel by an author who went to a £40,000 a year private school and pause to read the news written by a selection of people who went to £40,000 a year private schools. I love British culture.

This piece is spot on, though the pedant in me is gutted there’s no mention of places like Sunderland and Darlington.

There is not one square inch of the North East that shouldn’t be glorified, especially on sunny days like this 🌞 rb.gy/q3chyq

Very interesting funding stream from Arts and Humanities Research Council - developing a devolved community-led Heritage Research and Skills Hub - can be an IRO or University as the lead applicant. ukri.org/opportunity/ah…

In the next 5 years we'll hand £70bn in housing benefit (HB) to private landlords.

In some parts of the country, over £1 in every £3 in ALL rent paid is paid through HB.

Around £1 in every £5 in HB goes to landlords providing homes that are poor quality, or even hazardous.⬇️

Gosforth has one of the few surviving post-war prefab estates in Newcastle, and are still lived in and well looked after. Remarkable little things.

These 'temporary bungalows' were erected to satisfy the overwhelming demand for housing after the German raids of WWII left many

feel like I saw a lot of mockery of this. but just to be clear this is bad and another part of our lives getting smaller, meaner and more lonely because there isn't any profit left to be squeezed from it once the landlords have had their cut.

Devastating news from Birmingham City Council with colossal budget cuts incoming. Arts organisations including CBSO, B'ham REP Theatre, B'ham Royal Ballet & B'Ham Opera Company set to have 50% funding cut this year, then 100% (!) funding cut next year. Absolutely criminal. (🧵)

I really don't understand the level of denialism on the hole the UK finds itself it. GDP is a huge 24% below its pre-fin crisis trend - that's £23,000 per household.
