I'm the graduating kid on the nanny's phone! In her 33 years in the US, my mom has raised the kids of company execs, professors, doctors, lawyers... Mi mami is the best of the best. I'm so proud of the American Dream she and my dad have built for themselves — and for me.

Remember the VA school district that agreed to try the longer school year to help students accelerate their learning? Looks like it might be time for a follow-up.

Glad to see this and other outlets avoiding naming the shooting suspect, but there should be some larger context re everyday shootings in every mass school shooting story. Apalachee High School shooting: 14-year-old student to be charged with murder apnews.com/article/georgi…

Boards like to couch school closures with terms like “merger,” “consolidation,” and “relocation.” There is often a belief that a school takeover or building change does not represent closure. School disruption and closure must be viewed through a similar lens.

Would you know your child’s school was closing if you saw this item on the school board’s agenda? “Approval of Action(s) Designed to Drive Efficiencies in the Network and fully utilize the Avery Alexander site.” Probably not.

Why are media outlets including The Washington Post needlessly naming an underaged mass shooter in their news coverage? Do better! Best practices: don’t name mass shooters and don’t name juveniles. Here is an example of both.
