I’ve seen some myths going around about trad pub. I can’t speak for everyone, but that's not my experience at all. I hope querying authors won't assume that choosing trad pub means losing artistic freedom! My agent/editors would never force me to write something I don’t (1/2)

I gotta be real for a min bc there are so many reasons totally out of your control when it comes to querying success but if your debut novel is 200k+ I don't think luck and timing are the problem. It is so important to research your genre and current word count conventions.

querying authors: always check who you're submitting to 🌹 especially when the agency hasnt sold a single book at all ⛰️ and the head of the agency launched it without any prior experience as an agent. always a 🚩🚩🚩

One of my favorite things about keeping up with publishing is watching authors with quiet debuts grow into much bigger successes later 😊 I was an ARC reader in 2018 and many of those debut authors now have NYT bestsellers after their perseverance + new books. It’s inspirational!
