Was Independent Candidate promoting Electoral Reform at #GE2024.
Royal Mail declined to accept material for free postage; so 90% of electorate did not see it.

We need to get #FairVotes message to all electors at all parliamentary elections - without splitting the vote. = An example is appended. Please DM to assist with campaign.

#Oldenburg has been serving #Lundy for nearly forty years and gave service in Germany before that. = What provision has been made for its replacement should it become unserviceable? Has an impact statement been prepared in this context?

Alan Rayner (@alanr555) 's Twitter Profile Photo

NO! We must demand a different PR system - one that reflects the views of the electors, not one that gives control to party elites.

Alan Rayner (@alanr555) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Good to see a #TrueFair candidate still active. Is that party still campaigning - ready for 2029? Excellent ideas but needs to secure a support base in key seats via doorstep conversations.

UK membership of #Euro is NOT just a level of detail. It would affect UK financial stability by tying UK interest rates to #ECB rate. No single rate can be right for all Europe it gives switchback of overheating or local depression outside principal economies.

UK voting system leads to disproportionate allocation of power. Many advocate moving to a “proportional representation” model instead. = #JuliaPatterson of #EveryDoctor recommends reading a fascinating document from #HoC Library on subject. commonslibrary.parliament.uk/2024-general-e…

The lookout beyond the #NorthLight on #Lundy houses one of the #LundyLetterboxes (below floorboards). = simonwillison.net/2018/Sep/18/le… includes overview of the activity.

Action on this is needed by end-2025 at latest - in order to legislate in time for 2029 election. = It is in interest of BOTH Con and Lab parties to move away from #FPTP, enabling long-term decision-making.

When the keepers were still in residence, #NorthLight was part of the island telephone system. Connection was by overhead lines erected along the West coast and crossing inlets making it impossible to follow the route on the ground.

> concern re 130 Reform MPs. What should we do? = If that is fair vote in accord with wishes of public, they should be accepted as MPs and be subject to increased public scrutiny. Better than 300 Reform MPs on 37% of vote!

What happens to those who reach 31st anniversary of their birth having spent ten years in EU and built up complex local relationships (possibly marriage to EU citizen?). Will they be expelled? This scheme is building traps for future. How can we avoid them?

Alan Rayner (@alanr555) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Mayor of #GreaterManchester is correct about need for review of electoral systemfor #HoC. However he is misguided about elected upper house. Those with #scrutiny role do NOT need to be elected. #HoC must remain supreme - and be FAIRLY elected. #LCER must keep up good work!

Alan Rayner (@alanr555) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The concept of "33.7% door" must enter the wider public consciousness. #ElectoralReform is three-year process. #CitizenAssembly must be appointed (with public pressure) by end-2026 at latest if UK is to avoid 2029 catastrophe.

What is provision for people to renounce income where such income puts them just above eligibility level for pension credit? Those who saved, lose out?? = Ciff-edge problems usually need tapers to be resolved.

Alan Rayner (@alanr555) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Explanation needed. What is embarassing about waste bins being in a public place where the public can use them? = Yes, it would be preferable to have greater emphasis on recycling - but any bins better than russish on street.

Mail expected Tuesday 24/9 in #Devon reached #Exeter on time but was then sent to #Farnham in #Surrey. Instead of sending it back to Exeter it has been sent to London and is now (25/9) stuck in overwhelmed Jubilee mail centre. = Is this how #RoyalMail remedy mistakes?

Alan Rayner (@alanr555) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This message deserves widespread recognition. = Labour won because of anti-Tory vote - but more of that vote went to #Reform than to #Labour. Then #FPTP demonstrated its perversity! = On whom will FPTP give its 2029 largesse?

Alan Rayner (@alanr555) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Member for #StPancras has no plan to rebalance UK democratic deficit. Where are the new rules driving #PoliticalStability? How can we ensure that change lasts, and that governments cannot abuse public trust as did at least two of final five Tory prime ministers.

#MVM speaks truth in this matter. Project takes three years to do properly. Better to start now than to do it badly in 2028/29. Appended note drafted for 2024 election campaign.

How long does it take for #RoyalMail to correct an error of sending a parcel to wrong place? = Evidence herewith of one example - longer than for whole of a correct routing?? #Exeter to #Exeter in just four days! = How does this compare with other #parcel services?
