Today, staff from Vancouver Aquarium, Ocean Wise and #ShorelineCleanup got together for a cleanup in Stanley Park! Winter brings a lull in shoreline recreation so the litter we collected was nearly all foam, small plastics and fishing debris! (Except an entire outfit worth of clothing!)

Tremendously sadden by the loss of these two bright and passionate youth. My thoughts are with their loved ones, friends, and all of their Ocean Wise #OceanBridge family

Our manuscript is out! We found that highly evolutionary distinct birds are MORE likely to be found in zoo collections.

Thrilled our paper has been selected as editors choice article for the next issue of Zoo Biology. We discuss which birds are in zoos, which aren’t, and provide info that may help conservation planners prioritize for future collections. Have a read - it’s now open access!

Today I visited the Nechako White Sturgeon Conservation Centre. Every year they release thousands of endangered White Sturgeon and involve the local community through outreach and education. Still in awe of their size! The adult males in the second picture may be 90+ years old.
