In his own way, Steven Pinker is actually outflanking Trump to something you might call Trump’s “right.” I respect it.

One of the most jarring things about having a preschooler is they’ll act like some tot TV show is a broadly known, treasured, long-standing cultural touchpoint. And then you look it up and you see it premiered in 2023.

We had a good thing you stupid SOB. It was perfect. Trump does something stupid on trade, sees the consequences, and then waters it down. Okay that's not perfect or even good but it's not the worst outcome. But no, you just HAD to be the man, you HAD to call him a chicken

Indeed. There are really only two differences, conceptually: (1) the treatment of trade (2) the timing of tax on multi-period activities like saving or investment. Everything else they're functionally pretty similar. And even (1) is less important than it sounds.

"The House bill's retaliatory measures could apply very broadly to most of the wealthy countries from which the US receives foreign direct investment (FDI)...we find Section 899 would hit inbound investment from countries that make up more than 80% of the US inbound FDI stock."

If the "liberation day" tariff numbers had continued on schedule, this all would have come to pass. But Trump has improved his policy agenda, sometimes unwillingly, and people aren't going to have as many economic complaints as they would've under the April 3rd environment.

I guess the redeeming feature of Catturd types is that they're not smart enough to come up with a philosophy of child murder they advocate for. Even comes close to saying they deserve it for having the genetic qualities to succeed. A true egalitarian.
