For 3 weeks, I’ve been trying out a (pre-production) daylight tablet. The display is like e-ink, but a smooth 60fps, reflective under sunlight or glowing amber. There’s no notifications, & it runs Android apps so I’ve got Obsidian, Goodnotes, etc. It’s surprised me. (1/2)

I first met Ivan Zhao 11 years ago -- and his pitch for Notion was unlike anything I had ever experienced.

We did not discuss technology products like Microsoft Word or Google Docs. Instead, we spent an hour discussing the openness and form factor of paper. Ivan marveled…

The sixth annual Forbes AI 50 list is now live.

There were many impressive companies that didn't make this year's top 50. We had over 1,900 applicants for just 50 slots.

The process from 1,900 to top 100 is fully algorithmic based on metrics like revenue scale, revenue growth,…

Notion is, even by Silicon Valley standards, idiosyncratic. CEO Ivan Zhao picks out all the furniture at HQ and for years had a no-shoes policy.

My latest magazine profile looks at Ivan Zhao's big AI bet, which earned Notion a spot on :

Huge thanks to Kenrick Cai for writing this story. He may have chatted with literally every person Ivan Zhao and I have ever interacted with in the past decade 😅

Enjoying fresh produce with your kids at the local farmers market, while the sun shines, the cool breeze wafts, the local musician sings, and the neighbors say hello...

It's a happy moment that I can now create pretty reliably and consistently, every week.

TIL Notion was meant to be a computing/programming language tool to help people make things with very no code.
But because people resonated more with productivity tools than computing, Simon Last and Ivan Zhao decided to hide the computing power behind a productivity tool
