The City of Klawock pays tribute to the invaluable first responders. A first-of-its-kind totem pole carved by tribal citizen Jonathan Rowan commemorates Klawock’s longtime police chief, Terry Stonecipher, who passed away unexpectedly in January 2023.

With the salmon run revving up, bears will be out and about Remember: - Do not dump fish carcasses in slow-moving, shallow water. - Do not leave fishing gear or bait unattended. Fish can easily become bear attractants if left in one spot for too long, which endangers everyone.
