I’ve been looking for paintings *by* women *of* women eating - but not maids serving food, nor women only drinking tea. I’m finding it surprisingly hard - please do RT with any examples you know of. I love this: ‘After Breakfast’ (1890) by Finnish artist Elin Danielson-Gambogi.

Judging from the last few days on X, people don't want reviews that stray from the book, do too much plot summary, are too tough, too nice, too bland, don't want reviews on academic topics but also not of midlist novels, & also not by academics, or young ppl, or americans

Today's #WaferThinBook: The Plum Tree by Mary Ellen Chase (1949, 121p.) A #SpinsterSeptember book: Emma and Angelina work to put a positive spin on the imminent transfer of three residents in their older women's home to a state asylum. Grim and uplifting at the same time.

Hoping to set up a sort of (semi-official) newsletter/blog thing under my Poetry Professor hat, to discuss new poems from books/anthologies/journals that I admire (and maybe old poems too). Trying to come up with a title...?
