Our latest paper, led by Aaron Bach. After monitoring the thermal conditions of a Bangladeshi garment factory for an entire year, we modelled the effects of sustainable building-level cooling interventions. A related lab study to follow later this year. dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.enbu…

Our new paper on the protective effects of building level passive cooling for improving indoor thermal stress for garment workers in Bangladesh. Rather than carbon intensive AC, green roofs could be one strategy amongst others needed to reduce worker risk. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

1st paper from our Wellcome study led by Griffith University in collab w/Heat and Health Research Incubator BUET. Retrofitting passive cooling strategies at the building level in Bangladesh RMG factories. Terrific work Aaron Bach sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Great story by Vandana K for BBC Future. Fantastic to see our dhafer ben khalifa project on real-world sustainable cooling solutions is informing practice for those vulnerable to heat stress. ☀️🏠😰 Jean Palutikof Ollie Jay Fahim Tonmoy James Smallcombe bbc.com/future/article…

Thanks to Ian Sample and Madeleine Finlay for having me on the Guardian Science Weekly Podcast to discuss research in extreme heat, workers, older persons, and cooling w/ Jean Palutikof and Lewis Halsey. Extreme heat: what does it do to us and how can we adapt? theguardian.com/science/audio/…

Griffith University's Ethos Project team findings from their 2022 survey of 547 Older Queenslanders - 75% unaware of heat-related health risks despite vulnerability. To bridge this gap, they have crafted an enlightening animated video series. Stay tuned for the links! #ClimateAction

Summer 2023-24 is marked by a return to El Niño and has prompted concerns that rising temperatures, worsened by climate change, will threaten health, productivity, and safety. Griffith’s Dr Aaron Bach suggests some strategies aimed at beating the heat enlighten.griffith.edu.au/a-cruel-summer/

As we swelter through a long, hot summer, our researchers have looked at the effects of heatwaves, known as silent killers, and the likelihood of ambulance call outs. Griffith Health Aaron Bach ANZJPH news.griffith.edu.au/2024/01/29/lik…

Our latest paper is now live in eBioMedicine – The Lancet Discovery Science. Increased hospitalisation risks during hot weather based on the number, type, and combinations of multimorbidity. Those with multimorbidity should be seen as a distinct risk group in heat-health action plans. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Great job by the team and Robert D. Meade for leading this informative paper. Happy to share with anyone interested.
