We have issued a Campus Weather Alert Day for the risk of severe weather in Norman later today.
The most likely time for storms on campus is between 4 and 8 PM. The main hazard will be very large hail up to baseball size. Strong wind gusts and a few tornadoes are also possible.
For my people up north...
Canadian wildfires are going to start making a real impact on air quality. Keep this in mind for any outdoor weekend plans. The smoke is expected to move south while tracking east, however it will not be as thick as it will be in the Dakotas and MN.
The wildfire smoke is still tracking east. A cold front moving through the Midwest tonight will push smoke out bringing in cooler temperatures and a chance for storms. For New England, high pressure sets in bringing warmer temps and circulating in the smoke from Canada.
Work is taking me out in the field today to checkout flooding around the Rochester NY area. Plenty of flash flood warnings and heavy rain rates. #nywx #flooding #WROC
