First day of my neurosurgery rotation I saw 3 endoscopic transnasal transsphenoid resections of pituitary adenomas. Kept thinking about how similar it is to excerebration done in Ancient Egypt 3000 years ago — basically going through the nose to scoop out the brain.

Just saw MEDICINAL LEECHES used in the hospital for the first time‼️ 🤯 Did not know we had those chilling in the pharmacy. Apparently we also use non-metamorphosing medicinal maggots for wound debridement sometimes….
