Another brilliant KS3 Book Club zoom meeting tonight - the guest appearances of Albus, Buddy, Tyson et al was a highlight. I don’t think you can have too many dogs in a literary discussion. See you next time on December 15th to discuss The Murderer’s Ape 🦍 by Jakob Wegelius 📖

Remember you have until Monday 14th Dec to get your entries in for this competition! Your poem can be about almost anything and might be published 🙂 Ask your English teacher for more details or email [email protected]

Something soothing to listen to for Y11s preparing for their Lit mock tomorrow. The stars are a constant reference in R&J - Romeo feels ‘some consequence yet hanging in the stars’ and later vows ‘I defy you stars’. In C16th stars ✨ = fate

In Our Time is a brilliant resource - I love their literary episodes. Look on BBC Sounds and search for the Macbeth episode if you’re in Y7 and studying it now. A Level students, look out for episodes on Aristotle’s Poetics (link on Google Classroom now) 🤓

Just had another great discussion in the KS3 book club - thanks to those who joined in 🙂 The next book (chosen by Robert) is Gone by Michael Grant. I’ve read it before and it is a banger 🧨

This is a great little video introducing the work of James Baldwin - a brilliant writer who has something for everybody. If you prefer non-fic to novels, you can pick up some of his essays in a £1 edition from Penguin Books UK 📚
