I think OpenAI's masterplan with buying Windsurf is to enable users to use their ChatGPT subscription within the code editor. Right now no one uses ChatGPT web ui to code. This way they can directly compete with Cursor on the IDE layer (and get data to train their models)

It's quite ironic that "language" models suck at writing despite having read millions of books why cant they find the perfect nuance? the work they do is average while it should be top 0.01% given the data for art and code that's the case

had a problem that both gemini 2.5 pro and claude 3.7 couldnt solve. o4-mini solved it in one try. always useful to try many models.
