I’m distraught: we’re cutting dozens of mostly healthy trees to make a wildfire break. It bothers me to kill so many trees which certainly will be put to use - and make the property much safer but that’s being rational. Inspiration: home insurance was just abruptly cancelled.

Swiss Chard is one of the easiest and quickest to harvest vegetables you can grow.

After a late start in the greenhouse, things are finally starting to come along.

I fear my apple tree is doomed but as long as it’s bearing fruit I’ll keep it going.

By harvesting outer leaves of Swiss Chard you can keep just a few plants feeding you throughout the season.

Got this pretty blue bowl at a thrift shop. In full sun it “sweats” or oozes out an oily sheen. On the left you can see I swirled my finger through it. Out of sunlight the bowl appears fine. Any ideas? Production marks on right for reference.

Is this more than just a rock found in a field? The first and third photos make me wonder if it might be some kind of ancient tool. It fits and feels like it was designed to be handheld. Scrapes and red marks are from farm machinery.
