Great job Tim Brown, MD MSCE! It’s been great to spend some time with Tanios Bekaii-Saab, MD and absorb some of his wisdom.

This past weekend UTSW Simmons Cancer Center UTSW Surgery hosted our annual Pancreatic Cancer Symposium. Very grateful for our fantastic keynote speaker Tanios Bekaii-Saab, MD, faculty and panelists for exceptional lectures Todd Aguilera MD PhD Tarek Sawas, MD, MPH Tim Brown, MD MSCE Victoria Chung Adam Yopp

It was a great day in DFW for the #PanCANPurpleStride! Great to connect with patients, caregivers, and thousands who have been impacted and are committed. We are changing the narrative and outcomes for pancreatic cancer. Honored to help lead the next phase of Canopy Cancer—the first learning health network in oncology—transforming pancreatic cancer care. Grateful to be selected and serve as Chair of the Research Governance Committee alongside Co-Chair Deidre Cohen.

Congrats Matthew Sun, MD! Keep up the great work. Meningioma is a great model disease for studying radiation and immune responses. We are all here to cheer and help however we can.

Happening tomorrow: Beth Childs, our rockstar med student, takes the stage at the Society of Investigative Dermatology in San Diego! After a standout talk at UTSW Skin Day, she’s back at it—clearly catching the physician-scientist bug. So proud! UTSW Simmons Cancer Center UTSW Dermatology

Now online Clinical Cancer Research : Preop SAbR in #PancreaticCancer is associated with locoregional control—especially with arterial involvement—and reveals immune activation. Peter Leung was outstanding leading this to pub! #RadOnc UTSW Simmons Cancer Center @UTSWNews bit.ly/457oz6b

Yesterday we treated our first patient on the Ph3 #ULTRAS trial—on board within 1 week of activation! Single-fraction SABR to liver mets from ENTSCC, NSCLC, CervSCC, and gastric/pancreatic ADC. UTSW Simmons Cancer Center UTSW Radiation Oncology Ali Hosni Excited to team up w/ partners and move fast!

Yes Dr. Nina Niu Sanford Suntrea Hammer! Here our amazing pathologist-scientist Bassel Dawod gets frustrated when he sees 10% discrepancies in auto-immunophenotyping methods on millions of 30-marker cells in biopsies from our immunotherapy trial. Amazing tools—clinic needs to be right there.

Yes Dr. Nina Niu Sanford ! This is an awesome trial because covers 4 different disease oriented teams (head and neck, thoracic, GI, Gyn) and multiple histologies. We can have a friendly competition. Huge risk of being cliche… teamwork makes the dream work!

Clear next steps. Our team (w/ Drs. Story & Narasimha Kumar Karanam UTSW Radiation Oncology) studied TTF-induced replication stress preclinically—synergizes well with expected therapies. Michael Chuong, once safety’s confirmed in a few pts, time to expand & randomize? I think UTSW Simmons Cancer Center is ready.
