We’re halfway through #AGU21 already! Today we dive deep into collision zones (T31A, T32A, T35A), rift whole continents (T31B, T35C), and gather across disciplines to understand subduction zones (T32B, T35B).

And don’t forget the Birch Lecture by Taras Gerya at 3:45p central (La Nouvelle Ballroom A/B), preceded by the Silver and Jason Morgan Awards, and our discussion session on the Great Unsolved Mysteries of Tectonophysics at 2:30p (T34B) !

This year’s Birch Lecture will be given by geodynamicist extraordinaire Taras Gerya from @ETH_ERDW, today at 3:45pm Central (La Nouvelle Ballroom A/B & online). Taras will present “New geodynamic processes and phenomena discovered with numerical modeling: examples and recipes”.

The beginning of the Birch Lecture (Today at 3:45p in La Nouvelle A/B) will also honor Rick Allmendinger (Cornell University) with the Paul G. Silver Award. The award recognizes Rick’s outstanding scientific service in the field of Tectonophysics. Congratulations, Rick!

And right before the Birch lecture, Juliane Dannberg (UF Geological Sciences) will be presented our section’s Jason Morgan Early Career Award (today at 3:45p in La Nouvelle A/B). The award recognizes her fantastic work in numerical geodynamic modeling. Congratulations, Juliane!

It’s a busy Day #4 for #Tectonophysics at #AGU21 ! Today we explore rifting processes (T41A, 42A, 43D, 45A), connect the ins and outs of subduction zones (T41D, 43A, 44A, 45B), and focus on East Asian lithosphere (T41C, 42C, 45E)… (1/2)
