Launching of newly released Cashew varieties at KALRO Mtwapa KALRO KALRO Seeds

Farmers to benefit from the 4 new cashew varieties developed by KALRO through AgriFI CS APP. Varieties launched today include KKorosho 81,KKorosho 82, KKorosho 100 & KKorosho 75. The varieties are high yielding & early maturing compared to conventional varieties which took 5 yrs.

small-holder farmers with the potential to become full player in the value chain. The poultry unit at NRI Kakamega consists of over 2000 breeding flock that produces hatching eggs for the hatchery with a current capacity of 14,800 eggs among other poultry research facilities.

It is estimated that indigenous chicken account for 78% of all poultry in Kenya. Chicken production is a significant rural enterprise that contributes to Kenya's Vision 2030 socioeconomic pillar, which aims to enhance the livelihood of all Kenyans.

Today we officially commissioned the KALRO Poultry Breeding and Multiplication House at the Non-ruminant Research Institute in Kakamega and also released the Improved KALRO Chicken KC3 breed line AgriFI CS APP
