Thought Laggard, timid tweeter and ordinary farmer. Helping make poverty grass nearly free. Hopes of being a shepherd again one day.

Here me out! We do a thing for sheep produces in WA to quickly offload large numbers of sheep during a drought. We could put them on well regulated vessels and take the sheep to the markets where they are needed. We could call it 'Live Sheep Export by Sea' #keepthesheep

Great article about the concerning issue around the politicisation of science. 'When you get a group of scientists telling you there is consensus, that is a very strong signal that the work is not scientific,” he said beefcentral.com/news/csiro-rep…

Mark Twain was ahead of his time. "Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it."

Another farmer on the HumeLink route received their Prelimary Acquisition Notice (PAN). That's the start of COMPULSORY ACQUISITION. 90 day clock ticking to accept a deal, or get what you're given. The project isn't even approved! And some were issued a month ago. 1/

I must be an outlier in the farming & business community. My read is the more renewables connected to the grid, the stronger the business case for going off grid. And the more I wonder why becoming more dependent on an unreliable environment is a good thing?

Probe data showing a handy canola crop (20-30% flower) with a near to full profile pulling water liberally at depth but not much use in the top 70cm. First time i’ve seen this sort of thing in 17years of dry-land probe data. Does anyone have a hypothesis?

Going to be a lot of nervous croppers in this patch of the country after our time in the freezer last night & this morning. Ain’t in the bag yet.

I’m coming to the realisation that many rules & laws highlight/exacerbate the cultural divide between regional & urban Australia. There’s no way a jury of the operators or purchasers peers thinks this machine was not fit for purpose. Bureaucrats need to stop this nonsense.

We are back to the mirage forecasts. Where you’ve run or are running out water and the forecast for good rain is always on the horizon. Hope springs eternal.

A few observations this year have me thinking there needs to be revisit on plant population. Isolated plants, limited/no frost impact, stacks of yield potential, crop plants took the frost much harder. I’m sure sparse populations have their issues but I can see some potential.
