gonna start a daily twitter devlog. figured people might be interested in hearing how mixing being a good player with pursuing gamedev is going today i sent 50 pitches to publishers. although I would love to be heads down working on my game, unfortunately money is still real

today was a heavy design day so not much to show the bad news is my game isnt doing well, the good news is a fellow dev helped me understand what my game was lacking today bonus: much of gamedev is prototyping with whatever, here i just recolored my ice altar to make darkness

Redesigning my map today I want to do a larger overhaul eventually but for now I'm targeting a playtest in 1-2months i feel like im hitting my stride, so much of the last year was spent learning how to program that I didn't really feel like i got to flex my wings as a designer

have to make my difficulty selection screen today, its like an augment selection screen but I have some ideas on how to make it more interesting so its not just a select 1 in 3 this is my current augment selection screen that im duplicating and ripping apart to make the new one

finally got my difficulty screen working basically, the difficulty choices are randomized but you can view what level they are by looking at the back I knew the difficulty i wanted to upgrade was lv1, thus I had a 50/50 chance to select it since only 2 cards were showing Lv 1/4

not much to show these days, just a slow grind to get through the programming thats the hard part about pursing game design, u spend 3 times as much time programming than designing here's how my difficulty screen ended up, though theres no good way to explain how it works

maybe one of the dumber things i've done, but I could not understand how to get things to reliably trigger differently on screen/off screen so I just ended up creating a hitbox around the entire camera

made my shield autocast today against knockbacks considering this game is about experiencing the events of 2 characters, it only seems right that they can occasionally act without your input

added these placeholder giant golems today, the circle is the range of their blast the golems restrict movement around the map until they are taken out but cannot be harmed until you are at least lv9

started adding items to my game in my game monsters can hold and utilize items as well, leading to some being stronger than others though if you kill them, you'll be able to loot those items for yourself
