No arm swarm over last 2 days walking trails at PiraAcu, so Pale-faced Bare-eye has eluded us so far. Last day tomorrow so 🤞. We did get a fantastic a White-breasted Antbird this evening though. Photo of it taken by Eduardo Patrial. Another nice one was Black-necked Red Cotinga.

A few more from last few days at PiraAcu. None of them lifers but great birds to see again. Long-tailed Potoo, Yellow-billed Tern, Sand-coloured Nighthawk and Red-throated Piping Guan. #BirdingBrazil

Finally found an ant swarm today at PiraAcu, but unfortunately no Pale-faced Bare-eyes attending it😣. ‘Only’ a few White-breasted Antbirds and White-chinned Woodcreepers. Other highlights today included Crimson-bellied Parakeet and a fabulous Collared Puffbird. #BirdingBrazil

Bird of the day was the elusive Collared Puffbird,expertly picked up by local guide here @ PiraAcu,deep-in & well off the trail.Ever since I saw the illustration of this bird by Larry McQueen in Schulenberg’s Birds of Peru field guide, I’d always wanted to see one! #BirdingBrazil

Mostly a travel day today with a few targeted stops on the way. Highlights included Spotted Puffbird, Fiery-tailed Awlbill, Chico’s Tyrannulet, Short-billed Honeycreeper and Manicore Warbling-Antbird. No photos of the latter sadly. #BirdingBrazil

Today will be a day I never forget. I finally set eyes on the enigmatic Sumatran Ground Cuckoo. 3 years after my failure to see it in Bukit Barasan. A species lost to science for 81years until 1997 and endemic to sub montane mountains of Sumatra

Highlights today included White-winged Potoo (photo credit Gene Revelas). Also Ocellated Crake, Ash-throated Crake and Black-masked Finch in the cerrado and grasslands. The latter two being lifers. #BirdingBrazil

A few phonescopes from last few days: Collared Forest Falcon, Fine-barred Piculet, Black-faced Cotinga and Bare-necked Fruitcrow. None of them lifers but great birds to see again. #BirdingBrazil

A few from ‘Back of Camera’ over last few days. River island specials: Lesser Wagtail-tyrant, Black-and-white Antbird and Parker’s Spinetail. Also Orinoco Goose en route. #BirdingBrazil

A few from today and yesterday: Purple-throated Fruitcrow, Yellow-bellied Warbling Antbird, Rufous-headed Woodpecker and White-eyed Attila. # BirdingBrazil

Best one I could get of the tiny very localised and difficult to see Acre Tody-Tyrant. Also Sulphur-bellied Tyrant-Manakin, White-browed Antbird and Purus Jacamar. #BirdingBrazil

The best looking primate we had was the amazing looking Emperor Tamarin.

A few of the many Sabine’s Gulls we saw over the weekend at Bridges of Ross, Co. Clare. Plus a juv. Arctic Skua flushing a Grey Phalarope off the sea. This confiding Northern Wheatear landed right beside us to shelter from the wind.
