Just arrived at #SpaceSymposium! I will be part of two panels this year: Wednesday afternoon, I will be speaking about AI and space health and Thursday morning, I will be talking about how space medicine can revolutionize health care on Earth.

I’ve loved learning more about Skylab from the The Space Above Us 🦋 @thespaceabove.us podcast. Those missions are often overlooked but the life sciences and human health research performed was vital for the design and operation of International Space Station. It’s very analogous to why we need the Moon before Mars.

Couldn’t agree more, MLA! In addition to developing semi-autonomous and autonomous systems for deep space exploration, we have to fundamentally change how we do spaceflight operations, with a focus on becoming progressively more Earth-independent.

Such a critical element of gravity re-adaptation. How are we going to do this on Mars when there is no one there to help us?

Imagine the possibilities for medical diagnosis, treatment, and research if you could do those lab analyses real-time in space! sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

This is a calamity - it’s not just science missions but also the Gateway program. This will have a huge negative impact on the future of human spaceflight & deep space exploration. Imagine how upset all of our international partners are, who are deeply committed to Gateway…

Sitting cross-legged on the floor of my grade 2 classroom watching Marc Garneau fly to space as the first Canadian astronaut was a formative moment for me. It inspired me to pursue a career in human spaceflight and to dream about traveling to the stars.

Now imagine this type of critical maintenance work on the way to Mars with no spares (other than what you brought with you) & no real-time communications. How do we become Earth independent in deep space? This is essential systems development work that still needs to be done.

Future deep space missions will require even greater crew autonomy – including for medical care. See how we're exploring what tech-based solutions may help. nasa.gov/reference/temp…

Very disappointed in WestJet. First, you lost my bag. When you found it a day later, you told me I had to come all the way back to the airport instead of delivering it to me (which is the right thing to do). If this is how you treat your customers, I may not fly WestJet again

A NASA study funded by the Human Research Program determined that lunar dust exposure may be irritating but it does not appear to trigger an allergic response. These findings will change how we treat lunar dust exposure during Artemis missions. frontiersin.org/journals/immun…

I agree fully - creating new medical capabilities that use space exploration as a driver for technology development will have lots of benefits for people on Earth as well.
