The drip of sad news from the #ParkFire continues. A message from Chico State President Steve Perez said the fire decimated most of the 7,835-acre Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve, including the old barn and old house just above Big Chico Creek.

#SolarCycle25: sunspot group 13780 is getting pretty big and complex. It has a beta-gamma-delta magnetic configuration, it produced an X1.1 flare yesterday (with a possibly Earth-directed CME) and may well produce further major flares.

The full evolution of today’s mesmerising #SolarFlare, which continued for over 12 hours! This is a very long duration event, as most flares are over well within an hour of onset. Just look at those flare loops grow! Awe-some stuff. #spaceweather #astronomy

Devastated to share that Chico’s jewel, Bidwell Mansion (aka #POTA US-3409), was destroyed by fire this AM. Cut my #CW teeth at this lovely park adjacent to work at Chico State. Tnx to the hunters for nearly 1500 QSOs over 62 activations. Incredible NorCal history, lost forever…

Yesterday two Sota/Pota activation near Capalbio in Tuscany

A close look at the coronal blast wave during the #solarstorm launch shows mild dimming along the edges of a large perimeter (highlighted region). This may indicate a large area of coronal magnetic field may have been ejected, contributing to the impressive halo signature.

Impressively rapid development of AR 4213 (left) over the past 48 hours. Currently still a beta region it is flaring in the C-class range. Hopefully it develops further as it approaches the central meridian.

Has anyone tried running the #FX4CR mobile? Looking for mounting ideas suitable for 2014 F-150. Likely need a long arm to mount on floor. Radio is a bit bulky for the Ram and Lido mounts I’m familiar with.
