‘Conservation is a mind thing’: architect Terry Farrell speaks to Rowan Moore about Newcastle’s new Farrell Centre 📸 Sophia Evans theguardian.com/artanddesign/2…
What an absolute privilege to celebrate the life’s achievements of Sir Terry Farrell this evening with the official opening of the Farrell Centre Newcastle University … & to imagine the people, young & old, local & passing through, who can make this space theirs in the years to come.
Really enjoyed my visit to the Farrell Centre Modest in scale, it’s actually a really positive astute move to improve the discussion of how a particular city changes. Very strong “work as if you live in the early days of a better nation” vibes. Well done Owen Hopkins and team.
Final preparations underway for the Newcastle APL Architecture, Planning and Landscape Degree Show. Opens tonight from 5pm in the Architecture Building, Henry Daysh and Farrell Centre. Join us to celebrate a fantastic year’s work and pick up a copy of our 2023 yearbook.
