What are European Commission's 'safe country' proposals? Amnesty International's @oliviaSundberg1 tells euronews that proposals to send people to countries they have no connection to are not only chaotic & arbitrary, but “fundamentally devastating on a human level." euronews.com/my-europe/2025…

According to Magnus Brunner the Libyan authorities are a bit "dodgy". The UN has described conditions in Libyan detention for migrants as crimes against humanity. Dear Commissioner, please clarify, are rape, unlawful killing and forced labour - just a bit "dodgy" to you?

#Greece: today the Parliament will vote to suspend the registration of asylum claims by people coming from North Africa, and to detain & return them In 2020, Greece also responded to increased arrivals by suspending asylum. These were the consequences: amnesty.org/en/documents/e…

Greek Parliament just passed a shameful, dangerous & unlawful proposal to temporarily suspend asylum for people coming from north Africa and return them We expect the European Commission to take this seriously & urgently demand a reversal of the measures, which blatantly breach EU law

⚠️72 organizations including Amnesty International call on the Greek government to immediately withdraw unlawful provisions that suspend access to asylum. European Commission must take urgent measures end to this violation in line with its responsibilities under EU law. amnesty.org/en/documents/e…

Disgraceful. Shameful. The EU can't even muster the barest minimum measures to even start to hold Israel to account. This failure comes just as Israeli human rights organizations join others in finding that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

Italy: EU Court ruling on ‘safe countries of origin’ is a heavy blow to Italy-Albania migration deal The ruling is a 'wake-up call for EU member states seeking to expand migration control to the detriment of migrants & refugees’ rights,' says Adriana Tidona amn.st/6014fkbue

Thank you ARTE for the opportunity to address today’s CJEU ruling on safe countries of origin, on behalf of Amnesty International . As the Italy-#Albania migration deal takes this heavy blow, the EU should finally review its legality. arte.tv/fr/videos/1224…

Greece’s new legislative proposal negatively impacts people’s rights, at points in open violation of EU law and standards, imparts a punitive direction to the country’s migration policy and seeks to prematurely frontline the EU commission’s return strategy amnesty.org/en/documents/e…
