For #MythologyMonday this week, some obscure #Roman gods who probably rather enjoyed their roles: Copia, goddess of wealth & plenty; Eventus Bonus, divine personification of success; Voluptas, goddess of pleasure; & the Dei Lucrii, said to be gods of profit-making.

Pompeii may be temporarily closed but it is possible to visit the Stabian Baths virtually. The main entrance is on the via dell’Abbondanza and passing through the foyer, where in Roman times you may have had to pay an admission fee, you enter into a large colonnaded courtyard.

For day 116 of #MuseumsUnlocked #HatsHeadgearMasks here is a very fine mask on Swedish #runestone Sö367 Släbro. The text is interesting too, though whether it explains the mask or not can be discussed! #runology

In a #Pompeii without visitors, the cats wander the streets of Pompeii alone. They are among the few figures walking through the excavations, other than the custodians and staff who are working to preserve the site. 🐱

This 2,200 year old mosaic panel from Ptolemaic Egypt, with an adorable dog seated next to a knocked-over gold wine jug, is one of my favorite mosaics. It once graced a floor in the royal quarter of Alexandria and is now located in the modern library of Alexandria.
