The first Doctors' Day observance was held on March 30, 1933 in Winder, GA. The idea was conceived by Eudora Almond, wife of Dr. Charles Almond, and the recognition occurred on the anniversary of the 1st administration of anesthesia by Dr. Crawford Long in Jefferson, GA, in 1842.
