An 18 year old makes his debut for Arsenal in the Champions League. Where are all our young players that won the league, won the FA Youth Cup and beat Arsenal ? Where are they ?

BBC News segment on AI goes big on the 'democratization' and cost-saving potential of AI, before bigging up the newest 'creation' by an AI artist - a shot for shot remake of the Princess Mononoke trailer. No mention by presenter that this is wholly based on other people's work.

So, this afternoon I got home to find a lovely letter from NORTHERN 🚆 telling me about how they wanted to prosecute me for using the below ticket to travel on the specified route at a peak time. I paid £1.90 less than the fare they say I should have paid. A thread 🧵

yes brilliant strategy. keep pumping out larger and larger quantities of increasingly low-quality writing until your entire output is indistinguishable from AI, at which point you can replace everyone with AI. a bright future for uk journalism ahead

If they're marketing tickets as "any time" at point of sale and then slapping people with private prosecutions & hefty fines because they're secretly not actually "any time" tickets, the regulator should step in and slap *them* with a hefty fine

Meanwhile, here in the Netherlands, I tap my transport card when I enter the station and I tap it again when I leave at the other end. The cost is automatically calculated, and I pay it at the end of each month. The complexity of British rail ticketing is not normal.

I am deeply concerned by reports of Northern Rail fining and prosecuting passengers for innocent mistakes when using their railcard at peak times. I have written to their Managing Director to relay my concerns regarding this practice.

Secondary ticketing is another topic I've written an awful lot about over the years. There have been some interesting developments of late, and now Michael Rapino - boss of Ticketmaster owning Live Nation - seems to be supporting a ticket resale price cap: bit.ly/3BBEbm2

When you're looking for £22bn to fund public services, few people are going to complain about tapping the gambling industry for some of it. theguardian.com/politics/2024/…

"It will derail racing" says industry that has spent the past 20 years cannibalising racing with football bets and inviting regulatory trouble by pushing everyone else to online slots.

Thanks for all the kind Rattlesnakes 40th anniversary words. Worth remembering, at this juncture, that I was not alone making the record. I was very lucky to be in such a great band, #Rattlesnakes40th
