Please, please read Deputy Minister Daniel Quan-Watson’s powerful answer about whether racism really exists in Canada. He speaks the truth.

Erin O’Toole Claimed Residential School Architects Only Meant to ‘Provide Education’ to Indigenous Children(pressprogress.ca/erin-otoole-cl…). Senator Beyak was (rightly) expelled from the conservative caucus for pushing this same rationalization.

I would gladly pay a 25 cent surcharge to every business I enter to have a bylaw officer placed in the store to give out tickets to anti-masker goons.

Nicholas Winton saved almost 700 Jewish children from the Nazis during WW2.

Years later, he was invited on a talk show. He had no idea the people in the audience were the survivors.

This is the exact moment they told him.

A real life superhero.🌎❤️

“I love what are doing.” @SenSincmurr reflects on the critical role teachers play in the process of reconciliation.... And I love that Senator Sinclair continues to share his insights and wisdom. Thanks to CIAJ ICAJ for sponsoring today’s zoom meeting

Great reminder from Harvard Prosessor Juliette Kayyem that vaccines alone don’t save people: vaccinations save people. Until then, let’s “reimagine 2020” and shrink Covid impacts by minimizing contact intensity, managing the number of contacts, and maximizing mitigation policies

A little philosophy goes a long way during times like this. Brunello Cucinelli reflects on life’s journeys and challenges, storms and salvation, and the comfort that comes from swallows returning to Solomeo this time each year. brunellocucinelli.com/en/spring-lett…

the Alberta court of appeal decision on federal carbon pricing policy explains the separation of powers and the evolution of provincial control over natural resources. It’s a long read, but I wonder if it couldn’t be made part of the social studies curriculum?

I accidentally turned on Siri. My phone lit up and Siri announced that “I am listening”. I told Siri to “go to sleep” to which Siri responded, “I never sleep.” This made me laugh, then shiver.

I’ll leave the last words on this remarkable decade of reconciliation to James Baldwin: “...the past is all that makes the present coherent, and further that the past will remain horrible for exactly so long as we refuse to asses it honestly...” Notes of a Native Son (1955).

While I love Rex Murphy’s idiosyncratic colloquialisms, is it unfair to suggest that the modern Monarchy, and Office of the GG, are “all shell and no turtle”? It seems that the GG fund is intended to ensure that former GGs, ie, Adrienne Clarkson, are not confined to their shells.

Just finished “The Incovenient Indian... “ by Thomas King. Can certain chapters be made mandatory reading for certain professions? (ie chptr 10 on flooding of Senika lands for engineers and chptr 11 on Oka for Fed/Prov bureaucrats, etc? Lawyers read all of it.)

The late great Senator Chalifoux and Senator Sister Peggy Butts changed the meaning of “sober second thought.” Chalifoux helped spark today’s reconciliation efforts. Butts donated her salary to charity. Congrats to Paula Simons and @PALB2011; you’ve got big shoes to fill!

Great insight from : 'The changes were not the sun or the rain. It was within myself. Of course, the rain helped stop the match and helped me think about the match, and that's a reality. But in terms of play, what changed is how I played and how I managed the match.'
