How about Phil Fontaine, Wilton Littlechild, or Murray Sinclair for #GovernorGeneral ? Audrey Poitras would also do a bang-up job as GG.
Great reminder from Harvard Prosessor Juliette Kayyem that vaccines alone don’t save people: vaccinations save people. Until then, let’s “reimagine 2020” and shrink Covid impacts by minimizing contact intensity, managing the number of contacts, and maximizing mitigation policies
the Alberta court of appeal decision on federal carbon pricing policy explains the separation of powers and the evolution of provincial control over natural resources. It’s a long read, but I wonder if it couldn’t be made part of the social studies curriculum? #federalism
Wonderful to see Prince Charles Fiddlers celebrating Louis Riel and Metis culture. Thanks to Edmonton Journal for including this great photo in its pictures of the week. #Reconciliation
While I love Rex Murphy’s idiosyncratic colloquialisms, is it unfair to suggest that the modern Monarchy, and Office of the GG, are “all shell and no turtle”? It seems that the GG fund is intended to ensure that former GGs, ie, Adrienne Clarkson, are not confined to their shells.
Just finished “The Incovenient Indian... “ by Thomas King. Can certain chapters be made mandatory reading for certain professions? (ie chptr 10 on flooding of Senika lands for engineers and chptr 11 on Oka for Fed/Prov bureaucrats, etc? Lawyers read all of it.) #reconciliation
October 27 marks the 20th anniversary of the United Church’s apology to former students of residential schools. Thank you for your leadership. #Reconciliation
The late great Senator Chalifoux and Senator Sister Peggy Butts changed the meaning of “sober second thought.” Chalifoux helped spark today’s reconciliation efforts. Butts donated her salary to charity. Congrats to Paula Simons and @PALB2011; you’ve got big shoes to fill!
Great insight from #rafanadal : 'The changes were not the sun or the rain. It was within myself. Of course, the rain helped stop the match and helped me think about the match, and that's a reality. But in terms of play, what changed is how I played and how I managed the match.'
