For anyone who doesn't think children's books can be complex & deal with difficult subjects in a way to help a child understand, has never read Michael Rosen's Sad Book, illustrated by Quentin Blake. It's beautiful, heart breaking book about grief & loss.

The Department for Education has published a report entitled "Supporting reading in secondary school" and not once mentions #librarians or #libraries. It really is disheartening to see how little we are valued despite all the ridiculously hard work I see librarians doing on a daily basis.
