Being a PhD candidate is often frantically Googling sixteen-syllable words used by established academics while simultaneously nodding in obvious agreement and full understanding of their meaning.

Asking students to engage with others across difference is irresponsible if you do not also ask them to engage in preparatory activities.

Avoid fostering environments where participants are interacting from a place of ignorance instead of curiosity.

I spent much of this past weekend with this article. There are some important things for VE folks to consider in this one.

There's some sort of time vortex that opens when writing an academic paper. You sit down, type for hours, bang your head against the desk a few times, pull up a thesaurus for a more'scholarly' word for confused....and somehow only fifteen minutes have elapsed. 😅

While it's tempting to view COIL/VE as eliminating barriers and disrupting colonized educational structures, a closer look reveals that while such structures may be more challenging to spot, they are still present.
