A great shame the government has chosen to preserve the superfluous national Holocaust memorial in its programme for the coming Parliament. Why? A memorial and learning centre focused on Britain’s colonial legacy would be infinitely more relevant to the UK today.

Last days of the lonely interstellar spacecraft - on.ft.com/3YtaRY8 via Financial Times This essay on the struggle to remotely fix the Voyager 1 spacecraft (47 years old, 15bn miles away) is fantastic. It's also a paean to archiving, paper, and the preservation of esoteric knowledge.

I love the exquisite opening credits of Merchant-Ivory's BOMBAY TALKIE (1970), in which the names of cast and crew members are lovingly shown in the style of painted film posters. Accompanied by a dreamy score from the legendary composer duo Shankar–Jaikishan.
