I've learned more here about how to navigate my disability than from any of my clinical teams. Sometimes I think the disabled, vulnerable, minoritised & marginalised are the most clear-eyed when it comes to seeing power structures for what they are & pushing against them.

Timeline: -spend much of the pandemic researching epidemiology of COVID in children -spend months working with multi-disciplinary grp to write paper for COVID enquiry -get peer-reviewed & publish -get slandered by people partly responsible for failed policy for not including them

This is why "you don't know anyone" with #LongCovid "she rarely talks about these problems openly because 'In my field your brain is your currency. I know my value in many people’s eyes will be diminished by knowing that I have cognitive challenges.'" theatlantic.com/health/archive…

Candace D. You are seen and heard. I was 'temp disabled' injured my knee couldnt walk for months. I was housebound bc of the pain, every part of me ached not just my knee. I rested for months at home. It sucked the life out of me. Abled people wont get it till it happens to them.

Candace D. I love it when people find out I'm on disability and say "boy I wish I could stay home all day." They have no idea how much I'd like to be able to be out and to work.

Jess Hill writes: Stockholm Syndrome is a myth invented to discredit women victims of violence, created by a psychiatrist with an obvious conflict of interest, whose first instinct was to silence the woman questioning his authority.

Getting swamped so I am muting this. TL;DR: Stockholm Syndrome is medically not a thing, historically a transparent lie; and socially a tool for avoiding thinking about systemic violence. Also this is a great book. g.co/kgs/DezwZz

The idea that these are being described as "no brainers" while it's still illegal to build even a 4 or 6 floor apartment in the allegedly "residential" areas around many schools shows that the problem isn't technology -- it's municipal policy. Which Mayor Sim could fix easily.

📣 Exciting news from Coquitlam! Thanks to the efforts of the Tri-Cities Local Committee, maze gates are officially OUT of the city's design guidelines! No more new maze gate installations, and existing ones will be removed, making cycle routes more accessible for all! 🙌

To stop the speculation and DM's I am receiving. I chose to quit my role at LTT because it, and the working environment I was facing, were ruining my mental health. The number of daily items the Social media role at the time was expected to fill was incredibly high.

I was asked about my sexual history, my boyfriends sexual history, "how I liked to fuck". I was told that certain issues were "sexual tension" and I should just "take the co-worker out on a coffee date to ease it out"

I was asked to twerk for a co-worker at one point. I was told I was chunky, fat, ugly, stupid. I was called "retarded" I was called a "faggot" And at any point I would bring up these comments, I would get told, oh we will have a chat with them. Nothing ever came of it.

We followed this young girl for many miles on Atlanta’s Beltline today. Her father was happy to sit back and let her spread her wings; allowing her to savor the taste of freedom that accompanies biking without fear of motor traffic. Our job is to make this a reality everywhere.

How Boomers screwed over their kids: Affordable homes are old homes. To ensure enough affordable homes for when their kids are looking to buy, Boomers needed to allow new housing 30 years ago. But instead they were NIMBYs. Result: a shortage of cheap 30 year-old homes today.
